Healing Plants and Trees 17 to 19 June 2025

We will explore the gardens of Claridge House to discover the richness of healing plants past and present. Depending on the weather we may venture along local footpaths.  The focus is on the history and horticultural aspects of the plants, their identification and uses.

Professional advice outside this course must always be obtained before taking herbal remedies.  No advice can be given by your tutor.

If you are interested in plants, why they matter and would like to explore more, this is a course for you.

Please bring:

– A note book and pencil/electronic device and a hand lens if you have one 

– Waterproof and hot weather clothing/sun hat/sun cream/strong non slip walking shoes (not sandals)

– Any favourite plant books you already have to share

About Letta Jones:-

As an experienced lecturer and researcher in the history of gardens, landscape and horticulture, she is an expert in botany and all things related – her enthusiasm is infectious and participants will leave with an abundance of knowledge and deeper joy of plants.

Letta Jones, MA, is a Lecturer in Horticulture and Garden History who lectured at Birkbeck and Capel Manor Colleges in London for 15 years.  She teaches courses at Glenthorne Quaker Centre in Grasmere  as well as Claridge House.
