The Colour of Summer – Painting & Drawing with William de Wilde

The Colour of Summer – Friday 7th August 10am – 1pm

Come and join award-winning botanical painter and illustrator William de Wilde, (Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists and Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society) for a half day workshop drawing and painting stunning Summer flowers from the Claridge House Garden.

William (otherwise known as Bill) will demonstrate how to capture the essence of the blooms in both watercolour and pencil before attendees will use either or both mediums to create their own piece of floral magic.

Bill’s many years of teaching experience at various levels will make this course suitable for beginners as well as seasoned artists. After Bill’s demonstration, attendees will have individual help throughout the course.

More about Bill:

Bill is British painter, illustrator and educator, of Flemish heritage. He specialises in botanical illustration, portrait and landscape painting. He is a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists (FSBA) and painting member of the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society (CPGFS) and lives and works in West Sussex.

In January 2025, Bill was awarded a grant from The Society of Botanical Aritsts to focus on the vital role of Britain’s roadside verges as habitats for rare and endangered native plants. His 2025 project will document and illustrate wildflowers growing in Sussex verges, aiming to raise awareness of their ecological importance.
