Buddhist Retreat with MC Brigitte 30th April – 4th May 2026

This is a private whole house hire.

MC Brigitte will be teaching a retreat at Claridge house. This will be a superb opportunity to hear this teacher recognised by UN and the Queen of Thailand for her work of many years, teaching in the UK for the first time. Ajarn MC Brigitte Schrottenbacher teaches Vipassana Meditation and other Meditation techniques at Wat Prayong Gittivanaram International Meditation Center. In Thai Language Ajarn means Teacher, and MC Stands for Mae Chi which means Buddhist Nun. MC Brigitte was ordained on January 4th, 1990 at Sorn Thawee Meditation Center Bangkhla, Chachoengsao, Thailand. You can find out more about MC Brigitte here: https://www.meditationthailand.org/mc-brigitte/

Claridge house has been a Quaker healing house since the 1950’s. Ours will be the only retreat over the weekend and the House, although there will be a Quaker meeting on Sunday that retreat participants can attend if interested. There are 10 rooms for individual or shared accommodation with ensuite bathroom facilities. There is a beautiful garden that we will make use of (weather permitting) as well as dining room, silent room and group meditation room.

Food
There will be 2 or 3 vegetarian meals a day (we would recommend 2 meals before midday) but understand that because of health or diet some people may want/need an evening meal and that can be arranged. Eating/digesting does use energy and by having 2 meals there is more energy for mindfulness.

MC Brigitte teaches on a Dana basis, which means there is no cost for her teachings, however at the end of the retreat participants can donate to her and her social projects at the end of the retreat. This year there will be no charge as the accommodation, yoga and food costs are being met by one of her UK based students who was keen for people in the UK to have the same opportunity to hear her teachings as those in Europe have been able to for
many years.
